Removing amber lens from signal lights
No matter what I do, I can't seem to get those stupid amber lens covers off of my signal lights so I can put in the clear ones. The only sticky stuff that I can see is around those notches where the lens pops into those holes in the housing. I've tried heating it up with a blow dryer, but those notches won't budge! Any suggestions? Thanks!

Man I feel your pain. I tried everything to get those damn things off. I even took it to a body shop and had them drilled (long story). The only way to get them off is to heat it up a LOT with a blow dryer and use a flathead screwdriver to pry it off. The nothches won't be damaged as long as you are careful not to bend them too far. Just remeber to get them really frickin hot.
Re: Removing amber lens from signal lights
Oh and one more thing, when you put on the clears, be sure to get the glue hot so they go in easily. Make sure most of the glue is still in the housing or you will have spots around the light that water will get into. Good Luck.

Re: Removing amber lens from signal lights
It's the one's directly below the headlights, not the ones that are completely on the sides. Thanks for all the advice. I'll be sure to heat that thing up really good!
my car is from Europe and i had the same amber plastic on the lights below the headlights.
I just drilled them, then with a grpling hook broke them off the light, now i have clear lights on the front

Yes, but US models have all blinkers in amber colour, not just inside like our EU models.. I am also going to drill that bulb cover and put Philips SilverVision bulb inside, but what could our US and Canadian friends do? Replace covers or buy blinkers from Europe?

for one thing, we are not going to be buying anything from Europe. Trying to find little parts like this are just too rare to have ordered over.. neway, i just got my clear lesnes from corksport, but they don't fit! the notches where the bulb is supposed to 'screw' in are a tad too tight that the bulb's own notches can't get in at all. i called corksport and they'd call the manufacturer and get back to me.
as expected , there's always something . . . . .

I've always just used a heat gun and a few small pocket screwdrivers to pry between the lense and housing as i'm going along. For really sticky "glue" i just run a razor blade along it. And i always use clear silicone to re-seal the lights, not any sort of glue

hey, i managed to bake my front signal housings and replaced the amber lenses with clear ones, but noticed that there is an "inactive" bulb insert in the housing: the circular slot where a bulb would normally go in is not cut away ... obviously only people who have taken out their signal housings would not what i'm talking about ... is this a special feature? was a second signal bulb in each housing an option??? ...
it is annoying how the light isn't allowed to spread through the whole signal lens because the housing is actually segmented into two partitions ...
