klze with a klde intale and a turbo. will it balance out?

Post by oh-hell »

ok im using my klze in my 92 mx3 gs. I didnt originally buy it for this project but now im using it. My problem is the stock IM will not fit. I know that the best way to fix this problem is to use the mallinea IM but at $250.00 im wanting to use the stock klde intake. Now i know the hype about the klze having bigger intake ports of course allowing for better breathing/performance, BUT if im using a turbo will it work good? I know it will work but how well. Also with the turbo any ideas if i should gut the intake? Anyone have a millenia IM at a resonable price?

It will work , but I believe the intake runners are actually different shapes , (1 is oval 1 is squarish) So you have restriction between the two , You may lose about 10 hp ? Just a guess though

You can put some phenolic spacers in between, i believe they port match from square to oval too

VRIS on a turbo will cause alot of restriction.
Im the PGT we turboed a few years ago, the guy removed all of his VRIS flaps and ported it out.

VRIS is pointless under boost.

I thought VRIS was SImilar to Vics, and if so, Vics is what is helping me acheive the same Torque and HP numbers.

Which KL-DE manifold are you using? The older vac. operated VRIS or the square port electronic manifold from the solid lifter -DE?
