Engine Question 1.5 DOHC

Post by osargeant »

Hi Folks,

I may have access to a spare 1.5 DOHC engine out of the Japanese version of the MX3, the AZ-3. I believe the engine code is B5-ZE, it is supposed to be rated at around 120hp stock.

I am considering building this engine to run a lot of boost, my question is will the forged rods and forged pistons and ACL race bearings that are available for the Miata 1.6 DOHC work in this engine?

Please advise.

boosting a small displacement will yield less power for the same amount of boost....

And I'm pretty sure the bores are the same at 78mm. stroke is not, and therefore rods won't interchange.

no idea about crank journal dimensions.

I just wouldn't boost a b5. choose bp, if possible. no replacement for displacement.
