Slimming down the dash......

Well my MX hasnt been my daily driver for many years now.. It mostly sees the road maybe once a month or so and mostly hits the track. The car no longer has AC or a stereo.....as well as no airbags. I was thinking of cutting the entire passenger side of the dash off and contour it a bit so it doesnt look horrible. Any one ever thought of doing this? Or does anyone have a pic with the dash off? How heavy is that dash?

the dash is not too heavy - probably 40-50 pounds total... (it's a 94 dash right?)

yup 94 dash... I would love to build a new dash out of aluminum (just got a new spoolgun for my welder actually) but am not really sure whats behind the acutal dash...
