My new carputer install :)

Post by zreon »

I have pretty much finished my install of my carputer in my mx-3.

Doing a quick search, it appears I might be the first one to finish a install into an mx-3. WOOHOO!!!

Here is a brief rundown of what I have installed...

Dell 2.2ghz micro-atx computer
Dynamix 8" touchscreen lcd
Cadence m3000 component amplfier
Cadence CWM6 component speakers
Orion xtr 2150 sub amp
Phoenix Gold x10d4 subwoofer
Samsung black for 3G internet

and lots of custom fabrication along the way :)

Now on to the pictures

Here are a couple blurry shots of the screen in action

Here is a rear shot looking into the car

This is the computer stuffed under the passenger seat for now

This is the component speaker in the door with the grill off

and the tweeter...

Here is the component amplifier under the driver seat

Now the sub amplifier (not yet mounted)

Sub in crappy box (Fiberglass mold into the corner almost complete)

And finally the blackjack for mobile internet

I have searched many times before, but have yet to find a completed install. I have seen people that have put one in, but either never finished it or just stopped updating.

I really like the dynamix screen. It is nice and bright, and although quite washed out during sometimes of the day, it is still readable. The mx-3 seems to be designed quite nice so there isn't a whole lot of light there throughout the day. It is just windows XP with the roadrunner front end.

I dont have pictures of my finished install, but I do have pics of my screen and rearview cam online if your interested. I have pulled the system out of the car for upgrades while Im swapping a ZE into my RS.

Nd4spdSE ( think thats how he spells it :) ) has one in his and has posted it tons of times.

Also Jnumonik had one in his other GS, but he removed it

I would love to see pictures. I did another search earlier but still can't find any pictures of any other installs. I see that you and N4spdSE were mentioned in a bunch of threads but just can't see to find ones with pictures, lol.

I thought I would have more software related problems, but it was actually a pretty straight forward install. Not counting the days I was waiting for parts, I could of finished this in a weekend so I'm surprised there aren't more of them out there.

Yes it is an amazing amp. It is really clean and efficient. I think I might be selling it and purchasing a smaller amp though. It is overkill for my 1 10" sub.

Also, I have a HCCA 275 G4 in my basement that I am currently trying to sell also.

The more likely the first is "mp3guy" i think was his name. soo old school he was runing Windows 98 from what I remember. Mp3guy.net was his site. archive.org list his site back to Sept 17 2000 and it has his Mx3 CarPC in it....

As for mine, I got my Mx-2 in April '02, and started work on my CarPC soon after, completing it by the end of the summer of that year.

As for mine, here's some pic of her first completion, back in '02

And skipping many modifications and revisions, here's basically what she looks like as of recent (pics from last year)
