VRIS solenoid questions..

i have some VRIS questions.. where are the solenoids located? are they vacuum actuated? what happens if i wire them open? would it kill gas mileage but make my car faster? please clarify this thanks!

the vris shutter actuators are on the top of the IM near the fire wall
theres two of them...i don't know about wiring them open ....let me know how it truns out

Do not wire them open. They are designed top open close at certain RPMS to get the optimal HP/TQ curve by extending the intake runner. You'll only loose power @ different RPM ranges.

it would basically make u'r car have almost nothing until at least the first proper vris point.
u'd have no low-end but no better top end

Starting with page F2-100 of the online manual and the following couple pages give a great explanation of the VRIS system mazda used. Plus pictures of locations. Hope this helps
