Too many forums!

Post by canadian_ice »

Anyone else notice how HUGE the main page has become, and how many forums there are? There's way too many!
General Mazda and Future Mazda Models can be put into one. Get rid of the quebec mx-3 club forum, because they already have one on their site. All of the FAQ's (which are a good idea) should be put horizontally across the top of the page as links, not as forums. The Eunos one can go too.
You guys shouldn't be looking for new forums to add - the more forums, the less likely people are to read them all. I'm sure many good questions have gone by or good comments made in some of the forums because they aren't frequented enough.
Just my $.02...

The Forums were built because they were needed. I understand that we have alot of forums.. Been to probetalk? we dont have alot of forums.
As far as the FAQ. We have to have forums to move the messages too.
make a bookmark to the active topics link at the top of the main page above the forums. That way you open that, you dont see anything but active topics.

Two forums that could easily be eliminated:
Eunos 30X/Presso/Autozam AZ-3
Future Mazda Models
As for the FAQ forums, maybe it would be better if you merged them all together into only one FAQ forum. Like there isn't a ton of topics in those anyways so if the topics in them were all in there you would still be able to find what you are looking for or you could use the search on that forum.
That might reduce the clutter on the overview page a bit.

I wanted to make this suggestion too, We g2 look at our number of members, we have 4200 members, 1200 (alot less ) active members. but when you look at probetalk they have 14000 members, and even a quarter of that is active, its good enough.
We have just way too many forums, some have been inactive for days and days,,,
just my half a penny,,,

yeah they might be inactive, but with the number of forums people can ask a specific question & be able to either search or get an answer quickly...
that is one reason i dont post on the egroups b/c of the yahoo pop ups, having to keep logging in(when i have the pw saved on my pc) & you dont get an answer or you search you come up with 50000000000000000 answers to go through
also why does this topic get more response than the donating to the ubb fund...LOL

I like the idea of putting all the FAQ's into one forum. Why is there a forum for removed threads as well? And the one for commercial/vendor advertisements...merge that with the group buys.
