Agree with both ideas... a likely vac prob... & get it checked by a decent mechanic. Had a distinctly similar problem myself on a 92 civic (my pre-mx days

). Had just bought the car-used- a week earlier, it ran like a top, was newly inspected and I did a full tune up- std. maintenance stuff etc.
Cruising for a few hrs. on I-95 at 75mph on a trip, suddenly the engine dies but "comes back" 10 seconds later. Almost like it was outta gas but fuel ga. showed 1/8- 1/4 tank. Little while later it dies again and won't restart until after I sat there for 15-20 minutes when it could be started and only run slowly and ran rough. A nearby Honda dealership checks it out, changes the fuel filter (only thing I HADN'T done before.) Starts ok, I gas up and go. No probs til a month later when it happens again under the same conditions. Argghhhh. This time I had a flight to catch and was 2 miles from the airport.
My clue... fuel ga. showed 1/8- 1/4 tank & the ga. was functioning correctly. Turned out to be a vacuum pressure problem affecting the fuel supply that happened only at highway speeds and was related to the fuel tank being under 1/4 full. This was a long time ago & wish I could remember what was done to correct the prob. but it ended up being towed and fixed while I made my plane. Anway, it was a vacuum issue and I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic. G'luck.
