Question about lowering car??

Post by finchuck »

OK here's my question. If you currently have your car lowered and everything is fine with your stock rims/tires and you then decide to get 17" rims, could there be a problem with the new rims/tires rubbing inside the wheel well since you car is lower? Or if the stock wheels/tires fit fine with your lowering job would that mean the the 17" rims/tires would fit fine?

You get 17" rims with the correct offset, and tiires to comphensate for the size, and they should be equal in diameter as your stock ones.
------------------
Barry Clark
Moderator
1995 Mazda Mx-3 RS
Chaste White
barrykclark.com
barrykclark@hotmail.com

Well I am looking at Discount Tire Direct. When I choose my 17" rims they only allow me to have a 205/40-17 size tire. Would this combo fit if your car has been lowered, say 1.75"?
Also, when I choose a 16" rim they give me 3 tire size options; 205/45-16, 205/50-16, 215/40-16. If I decided to go with 16" rims, which size tire should I choose and why?

An intelligent decision is the 16" and choose the 215/40/16 tire cause is a hard tire and it will prevent you from accidents with wholes in the street and is lower than the 205/45/16.
I have 17" with 215/40/17 tires, it feels good but I have suspension so the car have been lowered and I have a few problems like the one you post before.
