largest wheels and crazy noise

Post by bronzeboy »

First of all, what is the largest size wheels I can put on my 94 rs? I wonder if 17's would scrape up under the wheel wells. <p> Second, does anyone else get a crazy electrical buzzer/grinding noise sometimes from the engine compartment when it is really hot outside (above 95 degrees)? It is loud as hell. It has done it since I had about 18,000 on the car and now I have 180,000 so I guess it isn't a critical thing.

I would say the largest you should put on are 17's. If you go over 17's on your RS then you have to recalibrate your speedo becuase the rolling diameter will change. I know some people have 18's and I amnot sure what they have done but if you want to keep it simple, stick to 17's.

I have an RS with 17's, they don't rub at all. As far as the electrical sound that you mentioned, I find that I do have a buzzing sound sometimes when I have my air conditioner on and I press on the brake. I don't know what it is either, but like you, it's been that way for a very long time and hasn't gotten any worse or better, so I just left it alone. I doesn't happen too often anyway.

My RS has 17" - No rubbing,, even lowered.
You will not need to recalibrate if you stick with 205x45x17 tires.
