Trouble removing break drum
Trouble removing break drum
Can anyone tell me a good way to loosen the screws holding the break drums on? I've tried liqid wrench, a number 2 screwdriver with channellocks while tapping with a hammer. Thanks....

sometimes you have to use pneumaic screwdriver.

Personally i used a socket wrench(1/2") with a socket that would hold a #2 phillips bit) It got them off and never had a problem since.

Mission accomplished. I had to change my left rear wheel bearing. I got the screws in the drum off using a phillips apex and ratchet with a 3/8" socket. The drum was stuck to the hub so I screwed a bolt (#10 I think) in the threaded hole of the drum to get it free from the hub. Used a flathead screwdriver to get the dust cover off the hub. Then I used a 3/8" centerpunch to decrimp the hub retaining nut followed by a 32mm socket to get the retaining nut off the axel. Greased the new hub assy, and installed it on the axel and put everything back together. Works great, no more noise. Don't remeber my car being so quiet. Anyway, someone my find this info usful so hope it helps.

Re: Trouble removing break drum
for future reference, i use the hammer method (without needing the impact screwdriver)

Re: Trouble removing break drum
that was a pretty neat video
one of my screws is stripping on one side so i was thinking about taking to a shop and having them replace the screws hehehe that way all i gotta deal with is easy new screws hahaha. I don't really look forward to drilling out a totally messed up screw, sounds like a bad day
Then again, maybe i should find an impact driver! do they have 'em at Harbour Freight? Thanks for the info!
