There are a variety of 'hot tank' cleaning solutions. Ultrasonics is good as well if you can find a place that does that. Some people use brake cleaner, I find Gunk engine degreaser works well and washes off with water.

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
Any engine shop with a hot tank will have the ability to do aluminum and your engine will be as clean as it can be. Period.

when i did my rebuild i just used the gunk engine cleaner and a wire brush then hot water pressure wiashed it and after i honed the cylinders i used tide laundry detergant of all things to make sure i got every thing clean as a wistle
