Parking brake function

Post by WhiteFinish »

I'm wondering, in a parking brake system.

When I pull the lever on the right side of the caliper

Should the round inner part (where the piston is connected) move ?

If yes, what could it be that it doesn't move.

yes it should, it should also ratchet in so it cannot move back in without twisting it.

If it doesn't the threaded post in the middle is stripped, or the teeth that catch on it are stripped, and its cooked.

test again, but try to hold the piston in with your other hand. it should never fall back or feel like it slips.

Doesn't fall back.

I cleaned it up nice and put some new rubbers on. Works like a charm.

Another question, don't know the english word so hoping somebody can help me out.

- Bleeding screw is the small one.
- How is the big screw named, the one that attaches the brake line to the caliper.

I need some for my Mx5 rear and Mazda 6 front calipers
