As an electrical engineer I am curious how the whole "resistor" mod even started, and how it got to be so popular even though everyone (at least on here) knows that it's crap.

Ha...That's funny. I saw that thing last week. The snake oil salesmen have gone from a piece of rubber-wrapped wire, to a little black plastic cube, to a bigger box with a gold decal declaring it's wonderful benefits of "power control module" or whatever.<p>BTW...I think it modifies the signal to your MAF causing the ECU to supply more fuel to your engine, providing a marginal increase in HP and problematic issues in running rich.
