WALBRO FUELPUMP OSS342 FOR KLZE

Post by dubspeed »

I picked up a WALBRO FUELPUMP OSS342(255lph) ready to pop in the MX3 tank(comes with float/bag etc)for the KL-ZE off ebay for $40CAN total including shipping as my fuel gauge isnt working and i figured i might as well change it up while im searching the gauge problem(hopefully its just a connection) and i was gonna swap the back leather seats from the SE at the same time...

Will this pump be too much for the KL-ZE?
If yes, I GOT A FUELPUMP FORSALE...LOL...
I picked it up as if it dont work for me, it'll work for someone on here im sure!!
Thanks in advance :)

I was about to say the same thing. W/ a 255, you'll need to adjust your fuel pressure. A 255 is too much. 190 is what I would have gotten. I made the same mistake, time to spend more $$ :)

I've been running a 255 on my ZE for 4 years now...I don't see the problem.

Nope, I pass e-test no problem too with my KL36.

That's about a year and a half old pic, but I pulled them a fewmonths ago and they were still the same

One thing i should note, just talking to Barry, I got the LP version of the 255. That's probably why people have problems with the 255, cause they get the High-Pressure version and apparently blow the stock FPR

If you have the low pressure one, your good, the high pressure one is good to like 500HP, way overkill.

After talking with nd4spdse, he has the low pressure one, thats why he doesnt run rich.

Thats why i grabbed it cause it was only $40 delivered...For that price, I figured someone on here will take it off my hands if i cant use it...And its already to pop into the tank...its already set up on the float dealy/bag thingy too, so its just a metter of removing the other 1 and putting this 1 in the tank...Here is a pic of how I got it...
ANYONE INTRESTED, LEMME KNOW...

Can't a fuel pressure regulator be installed to prevent running rich?

After doing a search of the fuel pumps #OSS342 Here is what I Found...
This came up under FORD/MAZDA:
GSS250 (400-730) Probe/MX-6/626 1993-97 190lph
GSS317 (400-730) Probe/MX-6/626 1993-97 255lph
GSS342 (400-730) Probe/MX-6/626 1993-97 255lph-HP

It actually shows 3 different applications of both the 190lph and the 255lph fuel pumps?

1 shows using the 190lph fuelpump and the other 2 applications show the 255lph fuelpump being used...
Any reasoning for this? I would assume the 1.8L to the North American 2.5L and the Japanese 2.5L KL-ZE for the last application?? Would this be a good assumption?
The # on my pump does read GSS342(i have O written on the header title, but i guess after reading info about the fuelpump, I see its now a G) Im unsure what the "HP" is on the end of the application though? Could this be the KL-ZE?...I saw on ebay that this version fuelpump also works on an acura(unsure of the specs of the acura, but try a search for the pump and itll show it will work on an acura on ebay)

So maybe i might try this 255l fuelpump in my car if others have had no probs? I assume the car would sputter and or reek of gas if its pumping too much and not using it as fast as its coming?? Possible rupture a line? Could that happen? I have another stock fuelpump thats sitting in my wrecked 93 SE if thats better to just run the stock version instead of doing this 255L upgrade? Hopefully I'll figure out the HP means the KL-ZE and all will work out fine??
Any reply/info is much appreciated...:)

Click on the pic for a close-up of the WALBRO FUELPUMP'S actual numbers stamped on it's side...Unsure if the letters "HP" listed in the above post is this pump or not or what it might be...Or if some of these numbers shown in pic below could tell what exactly this pump is...I'll try to do some other looking around for this WALBRO FUEL PUMP #GSS342 and see what i come up with and it's applications...
