Re: Rear Struts and Strut mounts
you can do rear struts in a couple hrs if it is your first time. you dont even need a spring compressor for the rear ones. check the online manual HERE and it will walk you through it.. get a couple cheap sturts from a autoparts store. new mounts are not the expensive but if your on a budget then go to a auto wrecker. You will most likely need dust boots and bumper stops aswell.. there only 10-15$.
basicaly block the front tires, loosen rear tire nuts, jack the car, put stands under. remove rear tires, remove break line from the strut.( just the clip ) remove the two bolts holding it to rear hub. next open your hatch remove the peice of molding over the mounts. remove the two nuts holding the strut to the body. drop the strut down. pop the cap off the top of the strut. remove put you wait onto the strut/spring and remove the nut. removal the spring and install they the new strut the same way. install the dust boots. bumps, and spring seat.
check the online manual for better step by step.
and for proper tq specs.

Re: Rear Struts and Strut mounts
yeah worst case scenario i will just do it myself. I'll just have to sit down one day and do things carefully. I don't want to screw anything up, plus it doesn't look that hard to do by the looks of the installation method on the online manual.

No man its not that hard at all. the rear are the easiest one also. Just take your time watch what your doing . if you have any questions you can find the answers here on the board. I did my hole suspension everything for less then 550-600$ and saved myself $600 labour!
Re: Rear Struts and Strut mounts

well you should really change them. But you dont really have to aslong as they are in good shape. not rusted or cracked...the rear ones are usally ok.

Re: Rear Struts and Strut mounts
90% of the time a shop will quote every part they can just to get the labour up and mark up on the part.
It is a good idea to replace them.
