Headlight lens cleaning
my headlight lenses were filmy and yellow(dirty) i used windex and normally washed the car...but nothing took it off...if anyone else is having that problem ..well i accidentally came across a way to make them clear...all i used was some cooking oil and that film crap came right off, there shiny and clear now...im sure others have methods too but i thought id throw that one out there...and the oil hasnt hurt the lens in anyway so it seems safe to use.

If used oil is not managed properly, it can result in the pollution of soil, groundwater, and surface water. Just a quart of oil can make over a million gallons of drinking water unfit to drink. Half that amount can create an oil sheen more than an acre in size. An oil sheen can block necessary oxygen and sunlight from moving through the surface of the water. Hydrocarbons in oil can harm young fish, upset fish reproduction, and interfere with the growth and reproduction of bottom-dwelling aquatic organisms. Used oil spilled on the ground can also kill plants and be toxic to pets and wildlife.

Pam cooking spray supposedly works very well. Some people say it dissolves the UV coating and makes the lens yellow faster - some say that the oil gets absorbed into the lens and literally cooks the lens due to bulb heat. But at this point no matter what i do the lens yellows in a matter of months anyway.....Mooneggs wrote:seriously like what kind of cooking oil? like vegetable oil?

this is something i just thought of, maybe someone already said it, i dont know. but what if once you get the light clear again you spray a clear gloss paint on it? im assuming it would probably mess up the light dispersion. My mx-3 is already messed up beyond belief so i'm willing to experiment with the cooking oil and store bought lens cleaner. i might as well do the clear paint too. anyone in support of the clear paint? or can you stop me now and say its a bad idea, lol

i figured there was a FAQ, in fact, i believe i've read it, and others too. but im just saying that if you had like some clear paint laying around, would it stop the yellowing? granted its not the correct way, and im not usually for correctness.
well after reading that mooneggs thinks the same as me im not the only one in the boat. i guess i'll do it the right way

i could be wrong, but I think its because mom & pop stores have better quality and maybe its a more personal experience going there then say wal-mart or autozone.
