Hate to say it, but do a search!

there's an online manual on MX3.com, in the auto tranny section there is instruction on reading the codes

However, this is often useless, as (sadly) the tranny is often screwed...

good luck

Echos to what Aston Wards said. That flashing light is a warning to pay attention to it and bad news could possibly follow. Go straight to the online manual. Pull the codes and go from there. Also check your tranny fluid level and fluid condition now. I can say from experience on my MX-6 that a significant number of Mazda/Ford auto trannies do not hold up well over time because they run too hot. Do you have an auxilliary trans fluid cooler installed?

Maybe there is time to avoid rebuilding that atx - a task you either pay a pro to do, or if bravely (foolishly?) attempted as a DIY project, ya suffer a slow painful brain death in the fifth circle of Hell. Anyway, asap, pull the codes, check the online manual troubleshooting code guide, and post back if ya get stuck or need moral support.
