I've seen them before.. and they do look nice.. But.. since I work with plastics and lasers on a daily basis.. I also know that their price of $70 US is a major rip off. As much as I would like to have them for my car.. I wont pay $70 for something I know they probably pay less than $10 to manufacture. I would pay double.. maybe triple.. but thats it for me. They do look good though
Just my 2 coppers..

This is the truth, and I know the going rate for any visors for any car is about $70 or more. When I bought my set from Mazda they charged me $65 cdn... and this guy wants $75 cdn.
Since you work with plastics, what are the chances you could me them?

If we had a different bender here, it wouldnt be a problem.. I have the laser to cut them with, but our bender isnt oriented to do items of that length. Otherwise I would have them on my car and I would have them for sale here LOL
I suppose its possible that they actually mold them from a liquid plastic.. but it seems I saw on their sight once where they said they were laser cut. When we get into the offseason here (middle of July) I will look into it more.. maybe I can produce something similar for a LOT less charge. If I am able to produce them.. I might be able to do them for less than $25 a set. We will see in July

We will see.. Part of the problem for me would be replicating the depth curve.. The overall shape of the thing would be a snap to cut out with the laser. One thing I could do that might be interesting is that I could offer them not only in a smoked or black color.. but I could do them in clear or maybe colored (not sure how the colors would work out though) But first I have to get some time here at work where my laser is not constantly in use.. then I can start experimenting a bit..

Any chance you could take a close up pic of one? That would really help me out.

Hey Tunes, i'm in the plastics industry as well. I think a light weight plastic like ABS-GPX would work great, but you may have a hard time finding GPX in any transparrent color other than plain clear. GPX is really easy to form and shrinkage is minimal. PM me and I may be able to do a bit more research on the topic. POLY. may be a good choice as well
93SE-KLDE Theres a big peice of metal inside my other peice of metal now...weird???

I can cut any plastic with my lasers as long as they are 1/8" or less thickness, I can do thicker pieces, but that requires multiple passes with the laser and that takes additional time, which would add to the cost of doing these. Barry.. are the edges of your visors rounded? Or smoothed down? When I cut with the laser its going to do a hard 90 degree cut. In a few weeks when my laser has some down time, I can make a template and cut a couple of pieces out to see how they will look. 93SOHC.. we get all of the plastics we work with here in sheet form from Romark Plastics. Doesnt mean we couldnt hook up on this though
Here is the kicker.. I could personalize these to say anything you want.. engraved into the plastic.. if we are using a transparent plastic.. I can reverse engrave them so that the lettering shows through the plastic but leaves the outside surface smooth. Basically.. this is probably doable.. but its will probably take some team work and some time spent on R&D. Cheers.
