Fitting v6 into a mazda 323

Post by Mr. MX6 »

I’m fitting a KLZE to my MX6 ..
But with the old KLO3 (The standard MX6 2.5) I was thinking on putting in my brothers Mazda 323.. It has a v6 motor also..
What I wanted was to know the specs for the different V6 motors (KLZE- KLO3-K8-KFZE ) .
A website table could be good but I cant find any thing (just hear say, but even more of that would be good (-: ). and if you could actually tell me what motor is in the 323 for sure.. this is a pic of it..
And also do you know of any problems with this kind of swap (by the look the IM may clash with the bonnet)

I suggest you check the engine no. of the 323. If it begins with K, there's every chance the KL will fit. But if its something different (maybe a Ford engine with Mazda covers?) I'd expect it to be difficult/impossible.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

Its a K series. They are all the same size. They will all fit. The issue will be the intake manifold and there's enough info about the various types on this website to give you any and all information you could want. Please use the search function.

I don't think Mazda ever put any K series engine in the 323. Your bro's 323 either comes with a 1.8 turbo engine, the standard 1.8 naturally aspirated motor or the SOHC 1.6 liter motor<p>Swapping a K engine into it has been done in Canada. You need to swap to MX3 or MX6 control arms, hubs, and axles. Get the V6 transmission and crossmember to hold it in place, and the passenger engine mount from a V6 mx3/precidia. You will also need the mx3 shift linkage. i'm not sure if the mx6, 626 or probe's linkages or passenger engine mount brakcets will work, but the MX3's does for sure.

You can put a kl03 in a 323 it fits fine. Go to winnipegheights.com, in the forums there is a guy named Bobbycoffins that has a kl03 in his 323.

2 years ago we put a 1.8L v6 from an mx-3, the tranny, dash, seats, wheels, brakes ,everything we could pull form Daniels totalled mx-3 onto a 323. If you want, I'll find pics and post them. FAST little car too.
