Intake Support

Post by Madjeep »

Hello everyone: I've just installed a dragon hyper intake system on my 92 MX-3 The installation was easy. Horsepower seem greater. But It really didn't help make the can any louder which is what I was expecting The airflow sensor restricts the amount of air coming into the engine. So is there anything I can do to make the intake louder on acceleration. Madjeep

I went with the Hyper intake and it growls when I open up the throttle. It might just be the dragon intake produces less noise.

Shop around, how good they are and how quickly is often a factor. Look for local shops and dealers who may have connections.

I bought mine through importstudio.com. It kinda sucks how the v6 gets screwed over with the intake systems. You're better off making your own and putting on your own filter element from whatever brand you want. Check under V6 Faq. The way my intake went together I put the 3" by 3" silicone adaptor over my VAF and clamped it tight, then inserted the aluminum tube snuggly inside that, finally I slid my filter overtop of the aluminum pipe sticking out and clamped that down (down make it too tight as the rubber will rip).<P>I would suggest getting a filter from American Speed Center or maybe an Auto Zone. I'm making a cold air box and I need to attach the pieces together tomorrow and take some pics. That may help your choices too, the metal looks awesome.
