squeeking sound from front wheel
squeeking sound from front wheel
For about the last week, I've been hearing a squeeking sound from the left-front wheel. It goes louder when I turn and it comes and goes. It dissapears in the highway and is louder when driving slow.

Re: squeeking sound from front wheel
if its not a link in the suspension, check to see if its your front end making the squeaking noise (meaning the lip, front spoiler, etc). I had that problem, sprayed with wd-40. Make sure to wipe the excess off!

Re: squeeking sound from front wheel
I have the same problem. I was told by my mechanic that its not my brakes. But im so damn sure it is. Does the sound go away when you tap the brake?
Re: squeeking sound from front wheel
No, the sound is almost always there except when I turn. I looked through the rim and saw a thin metal plate behind the disc. I used a pen to push it back until my pen broke. The sound went away for a couple of days and now its back again. It liiks like a shield or something. I think its bent. I'll take the wheel off and take a look again. The sound from old brake pads is different, its more like a screeching sound.

Re: squeeking sound from front wheel
i did that same plate trick.. it went away for a while. then came back... Its a wierd problem. Someone told me it may be a wheel bearing.. i dont see how..i dont know much about those things. But i had to buy them for my honda accord once and it was alot of money. Someone please help with this problem.
Re: squeeking sound from front wheel
I finally found the problem; it is the metal plate thing. I reached around the back of the wheel and felt it all the way around until I found a bent pointy part that was rubbing against the disc. I pulled it back for now and the sound is titally gone. I'm still gonna take the wheel off and take a look. I dont know how it became like that. But the sound is gone, at least for now.

I think that bent metal thing is to warn you that you have worn out brake pads...I hope that that wasn't the case... or you'll see sparks while braking... : )
Re: squeeking sound from front wheel
No, the brake pad itself has a needle which makes a non-stop screeching sound when the pad is worn out. I would not be able to reach around and touch that. This is just a shield. I opened it and checked. It is really thin and it was a little bent. It may have happened in a sharp turn.<BR>thanks though
