Same, mine hovers just over half way like the first pic, Was like that after my engine swap, and temp stat changed. And my Ecu had all the codes pulled. I think mx-3s, under summer conditions 4cyl, run around that temp, who knows maybe mine has a problem too. I don't need to get into the valve ...

Engine Problem

Right now..I've been sitting my car in the shop for about 4 days, they and myself are pissed, costing alot of money and still won't stay going, when they had it going it was sounding bad..but good Comp, 180 180 160 160, Bought the engine last week for 500$ at a salvage yard, no distributor ...

Thanks man, thats a big help, I didnt want to go buy just the engine to find out I need the axles, tranny, and ecu too, Wiring harness and what not, but thats not that bad few of the boys on here are sellin the whole set up..its too bad I didnt have the money now, my mom's payin and I got to pay her ...

Ok, when I grab the protege and ecu, I've heard from some you also need new axles and tranny, some others say that's not true? anyone want to clear this up for me thanks

I'm at the point now where a BP swap would be nice..BUt where would I find a cheap BP 1.8l engine in Nova Scotia? any suggestions, where did some of you buy yours, and how much did it end up costing

And maybe I'll take you up on that Boris, if it's easy as you say my friends shouldn't have trouble doing the engine work if they work on american cars all the time.. Worth not paying alot of money to get mine fixed..

And is it worth getting a rebuild, or buying a new engine?

lol just brought it to a mechanic, Was going to drive it there today, tried starting it, would only turn a few times, grabbed my mom's protege, boosted her once, reving at like 2500 rpms idleing, Soundin horrible burnin retarded smoke, then died as I jumped out, repeated about 2 times, 3rd time ...

Direct bolt in from a 90-94 protege or escort? I've read about that, sounds decent, Is it easier then some people say? And will I be needing any new wiring to do so? haha

Appreciate that, I'll start looking for one, i'm just hoping this problem will be a bit less costly then what i'm hearing from mechanics so far..I'm not giving up my favorite car to go back to something like an oldsmobile gas gusler (no offence I like oldsmobile too lol)

Ok I've been a sitting duck for about 2 weeks now, and i've been reading the site non stop trying to learn as much as possible and not rip myself off. I don't know that much about cars yet but i'm learning everyday, and anyways I bought my mx-3 running all good and everything, but right away ...
