turbo leaking oil from outlet?

Post by Joey's mx »

Ok i have just installed a brand new 16g evo 3 turbo on my B6 and it is leaking oil from the outlet..what would be causing this? Are the seals done?? my car is blowing alot of white smoke when i drive it, but not when idling is this because of the oil in the outlet??

is the oilreturn facing down? Might need a ristrictor plate for the inlet. Is ur inlet -3?

i would say the seals are done. i went threw several turbos that did the same thing. pull off your intake side and check your slop. in and out up and down. chances are there is slop in and out. the whit smoke is from the water inlet of the turbo, at idle it evaporates off. thats why no smoke at idle. unless you dont have the water inlet hooked up, then it could be worse. how is your oil pressure?

Is it still boosting fine? ANd my guess is that you rebuilt it yourself? Or if not, did you get the shaft balanced? And BTW I think you got dooped. Thats a GTX manifold not GTR...

why do you have pics of the shaft and wheels out of the core then? Did you get it rebuilt or did you put it together?? Cause the seals might be gone if you put it together and didn't get the shaft balanced...

if the oil retrun line into the turbo is blocked or kinked it can cause extra pressure on the turbo and it will leak oil out and into the exhaust fumes.

I had this problem when I had my oil pan replaced and the return line was installed in a bad location.
