Power Window Switch - My Experience

Post by Jimbo1177 »

I wanted to share my experience with the power window switch. I was hoping to post it to the thread below, but it's a read-only.
viewtopic.php?f=44&t=66265

I had a functional, but flaky window switch on my 1992 GS. I pulled a replacement off another MX-3. I don't know what year the switch is from as I found the door lying in the back of another MX-3 with manual windows. If you look at the link above, however, the window switch I pulled looks exactly like the 1995 in the first picture. The door was green and said GS, which I believe limits it to 92-94, as I believe the GS was not offered in the US for the MY95. So that particular style switch might not be limited to the MY95.

I swapped the new switch for my bad switch and it appears to works perfectly, both switches operate the respective windows. The power rocker switch deactivates the passenger window when in the 'Off' position. The rocker switch does not appear to effect the driver window.

Based on the link above, it seems the '95 switch can cause problems with the operation of the passenger door switch. I have not tested this yet, but will update when I get a chance.

Finally, this is what the switch looked like that came out of my 1992. The main reason I wanted to post this is because it looks different than both the 92 and 95 switches pictured in the link above. I guess it is just another variation...?

The rocker shouldn't affect the controls of both drivers and passenger windows using the drivers controls. It should only lock out the passenger from controlling their window.

Thanks for confirming on the rocker switch.

Also, I can confirm that the passenger side switch no longer operates the window.
