Some interesting stuff, seems like the price will start in teh 40k range and it'll have 300ish HP.

Wow they just keep pushing the date its coming out. When I was in high school I heard 2013. I just recently read 2015 now 2017?!?!? Next thing it will be 2000 and never. Mazda better hurry. These electric sports cars are soon upon us and it wont matter how good on gas the car is. If its not electric alot of peeps wont buy it.

They've been working on the 16x for a while, but they had officially denied an rx7/rx8 replacement for years. Internally at Mazda they've wanted to make a new Rx7, but they saw no real need or market for one, especially when the economy slumped and the big 3 themselves had a hard time.

There had been mixed information about the new rotary will replace the Rx-7 or if it will be a continuation of the rotary line in another form (ie Rx9) but one way another they have said a new rotary will come eventuallly. They really want to bring the spirit of the 7 back though...

No car was designed or planned for the 16x. They want to hit their hp, fuel economy and oil comsumption goals first. For a while, people had said that the 2014 Mazda6 was the new Rx9.
