Excessive Blow By

Post by 92StockMx3 »

Went out to clean a bit of the engine bay and noticed the air filtered needed cleaning. So i removed the filter and the bottom was pretty soaked in oil. Took apart the rest of the intake and had oil in the MAF and into the manifold. Now i know some blow by is normal and was going to chalk it up to that and just buy a catch can. I inspected the oil to make sure thats all it was and noticed it was a little smokey, now im thinking thinking maybe my rings are going. Motor has 135k miles and has never been rebuilt. I'm going to look around and seen if i can pick up a Compression Tool and check to see the results. It's definitely not normal for that amount and consistency to be in the air intake right? This is the best picture i could get of it to show the quality. Thanks for any advice!

I would check your PCV too, could cause issues if it is stuck open. but not that much. When turbo I would use a small fuel filter inline of the PCV to watch my blow by It would not hurt to do that in this case either.
