Best street/ autocross tire?
I am thinking either Advan Neova AD08, or Dunlop Star Specs. I have to drive in rain a lot of the time
I am open to new suggestions. Also for consideration, is weight of the tire. That's why I'm thinking AD08s.

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
I'm running the Z1 Star Specs on the 8, they're a great tire, but I've only put 5000kms on them, and little experience with them in the rain, but it being RWD, I still drove around with TCS totally off and they stick well with progressive slip (just doesn't snap loose)

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
Good to know. I think I'm sold on them.

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
I had the Yokohama avs ES 100's on my car for quite some time and I loved them. Once they start wearing down though you can notice that they are not as sticky.
A little pricey but worth the money are Proxy R888's they are my new favorite tire. not something to commute in though, unless you don't drive far. They are essentially a motercycle tire for your car. Despite being more of a track tire they do considerably well in the wet.

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
All those tires aren't really ideal for the rain, they will work but you're getting into territory where they're sacrificing tread grooves for a larger contact patch. They are very good high performance street tires though! I'm currently using BFGoodrich g-Force KDWs and I love em. These are all almost on par or very close to each other:
Advan Neova
Star Specs
Toyo Proxes
BFGoodrich g-Force
Falken Azenis

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
I was never really impressed with the toyo proxes... I would get Kumho XS over the Falken Azenis and I will soon know how the starspecs perform

I almost got the Falken Azenis 615's, but I couldn't get the new K's in, which are suppose to be better. The Star Specs came in at a better price than the old 615's, so went with those.

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
I ran Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500's last season;they were the highest customer reviewed UHPS tires on Tirerack in 205/45/16 at this time last year, 8.7 with great traction in wet, under $100 a piece. They lasted me about 10K miles and 10 AutoX events with 2 rotations total and never let me down once, even in torrential downpours and on the occasional wet course for SCCA events. That being said, i will be giving the BFG Gforces Nightshade suggested a try this season unless there is something cheaper comparable.

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
I loved the Proxy 4's, I ran them on my G3 eclipse spyder GT for years.. But they were a 225/40/18 so handling would be a lot different from a 16" 205/45. Either way i would only recommend them for a nice street tire. I wouldn't use them on any track unless it was an occasional thing. they are pretty good in the rain too.
when I get new rims I am going to rock the R888's. Go BIG or go home they say

What size? I was looking at them in 225/45/16. Just dunno if they will fit on the inside with the spacing on my Rotas.

Re: Best street/ autocross tire?
how many miles are you hoping to get out of a set of tires? from what ive been reading, and what i want out of a set of tires i wanted to go with something with a 300ish tread rating. thats a decent amount of softness for grip and handling but study enough to last a few summers. i dont have any input on these tires, but im planning on going with Sumitomo HTR Z III in 215/45/17. $97 a tire at tirerack and they have excellent reviews and compare well to higher priced tires. ill have them within a month or 2 and can give my experience with them then...
