Help SuperK with His Transmission Seal Replacement!

Post by SuperK »

Apparently my transmission seal is bad and gave me a greasy clutch on my ZE. The transmission has LSD installed and zx2 gears with a protege 5th gear just so ppm know what's the transmission is.
So not excited about this but the work has to be done right?

Good luck my friend and hey, good idea creating a new post for this.

wytbishop says this has an excellent step by step instruction for rebuilding a trans but I can't see where it is. You supposedly have to sign up to view the forums. maybe pm him. http://www.imazda.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2701

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Nope, sorry. That's the link I was talking about on the other thread. I was registered on that forum. It's dead. :(

Hoo boy, am I in for a treat! I'm not excited about this at all. It looks pretty intimidating. Man I wish I had someone that would work with me on this, I would feel so much better. But oh well! Let's see what happens, I dunno if I'll get to it this week or in two weeks, but I'll let you all know more once I start tearing into it!

Yeah. Too bad you're that far away, or I could give you a hand.
My advise to you would be the same I give everybody: take it one task at a time, and document every move (take plenty of pictures), so if you have a problem, you have some back up.
Anyway, if you can, get a J/Y tranny, just in case. Later on, if everything goes well, you can return it.
