Altezza Lens shifting.

Post by Dragon1212 »

Hey! Whats Up? Got a question for all you altezza owners out there!

I have always hated how our cars look like they have eyes when you drive behind them on the road at night, I was wondering, has anyone ever taken theirs apart and could tell me if it would be possible to move the Reverse light lens where the inside or outside brake light is?

I have never seen a altezza light function mind you and i have seen one where the outside red ring lights up (would look more like a eye to me, the reds the coloured part and the center is the iris) Could I move the internal lenses around to get rid of that? or has no one tried it and I should find out for myself?

I'd have to rewire the harness to make the reverse light go to a different keyed hole i know that.

Thanks for reading, Looking forward to a answer thanks!

The lens is tinted, the bulbs are clear. You'd have to change the lens.... which you can't just do. Swapping the wiring around is plug and play.

The ring around the reverse lights is only a reflector on the tezza tails. You can pop it off, but it looks dumb. The tezzas would be easier to change the location of the lights as the colour filters can be removed

I mean switching the colored lenses around. I didn't know our bulb mounts were all the same pattern. I just put them back in with the turn signals and the brake lights on when i did it the first time.
Looks like on the supras one its the same reflector...

I de-lensed my Altezza's for my mod. Nothing says you can't put colored lenses in front, or use colored bults

Funny you want to remove the reflector, cause it looks like that Supra tail, the left brake light, has a reflector ring too.

Well the reflector can stay I just don't want to have it that when I hit the brake it has a xead spot in between two lit lights so can I move the internal lenses around in that picture you just cut them off.

I have a question about removing the clear outer lens, I looked at mine and it looked like I wouldnt be able to remove it without damaging it can it be done and how? I tried the search but wasnt finding the answer and I bet its been covered before. Also was wondering as mentioned in this thread about the outer red ring being lit is it actualy lit or is it just an ilusion from the reflector in other peoples pics cause I never seen any wiring for any lights in the ring.

We've just been talking about it... there is no wiring, they are reflectors around the reverse lights... I just want to be able to change the reverse light to a brake light and a brake light to a reverse light. to get rid of the dead spot in the middle of the two lit lights.

I am however curious as to how you got the lens off too!!

You should just be able to heat up the lense (either in the oven or a heatgun) just be careful not to melt everything! :o

The 3 holes appear to all be the same size. It seems like you could just pop out the internals and swap them. I'm not sure how integrated they are... maybe the chrome housings are just glued at the back?

I've had a project like this in my mind for a while and I'd like to take off the outer lense, get rid of the reflector all together and maybe even the reverse light... 1 rear fog light on the inside slot and 2 parking running lights/brake lights next to each other :freak:
