Dumb question - Sorry guys =)

Post by EggyRollz »

So this guy not too far away from me is selling a 97' MX-6 with the leather & power options. It's got the KLDE motor but he says its knocking. chances of it making a 3 hour trip ? A lot of stop and go small cities between him and me =(

Also - since my adventures with my two other MX-3's funds are tight. he only wants 400.00 for the car and I am inclined to get it but with the motor going out I was wondering if putting the K8 out of my purple MX-3 along with the ECU & MAF would work until I can either A : source another engine most likely a KLZE for it or B : Rebuild it.

Would the weight kill the K8 in no time flat ? I know it would be gutless as hell but would it work or is this too big of a hassle to deal with and just buy it / park it until I get another engine ( monhs and months down the road.) ?

I would chance it (if I wanted an MX-6 bad enough), but I have AAA plus = 7 500 mile tows a year.. It depends on how bad the knock is, and what exactly is causing it. I think the K8 would be fine if it's running strong. It would have some trouble with 4 people, and stuff.
Personally, I'd put the money and efffort into the MX-3s, though.

I do like the MX-6 a lot and i'm sad I sold my old white one. The room was great. The handling was great and the power was impressive for what it was. After the clutch job , a new wire harness , timing belt issues , and a dropped valve I said enough is enough =(

It had like 300,xxx miles though lol. I'm also fairly certain it was all original since the chicas pops was the original owner then passed it down to her and they were both ditzy about it.

Paid a couple bucks for it because they said it wouldn't go into gear and the clutch pedal was stuck to the floor. I got out there popped the pedal up and looked about ( broken slave ) and found the culprit. I managed to get it into 1st gear and through 'RPM shifting' drove it off their lot hahaha...man they had pissed off looks on their faces.

Anywho - I do love both the MX-3 and the MX-6 but I don't want to drop the motor in the MX-6 if it's just going to kill it. I have a friend in AZ willing to buy my green one after I do the MX-6 tranny swap and I am going to be balls to the wall on getting the pruple one repaired more so because I want a sunroof =D so I will be bakc down to 2 cars MX-3 & Tahoe.

In the old days we'd add two cans of STP to the oil and carry on. Keep the revs down and you should be just fine.

Well I offered him 300.00 for it and he said if it doesn't sell by friday then he'll take it. So thats the route i'll go. I can either A : Save 100 bucks or B : Use the 100 I saved to have it towed home after the motor blows out on the way home lol..

Keeping my fingers crossed =)

assuming your within 30min of getting home id have a little more saved up for the tow. i drove a truck last summer and we charged $65 to hookup then $1.50/km.
sounds like a good deal depending on the condition of the body/interior and what you expect to get from it.

k8 should handle the mx6 fine, might not be the funnest but it will get you from a to b.
