Fifth has gone out

Post by chimp »

When I bought my mx-3 a few months back, it took a couple tries to get the tranny in fifth. When I first started driving it, it would grind every once in a while letting the clutch out, but then after about two weeks it would never grind and it would just take anywhere from 1 to 10 tries to get it in, depending on the day, but it would always eventually go in. Well now it's completely gone, haven't been able to get it in for five days now. When it wouldn't go in and the clutch was let out it was just like it was in neutral, no grinding, nothing, it would just idle. My shifter is REALLY loose, every gear feels like neutral (stiffness wise) compared to other cars. Is there any chance its the linkage or is it gonna be the tranny it self?

chec the oil level in your tranmition, and for the loose shifter, change the shifter's bushing, cost around 15$
