Re: Installing A Deck But Not Sure Of Correct Install
Apparently so... but mine is very stuck. Playing at a junk yard once I pulled on a protege one, and it came out, but apparently mine is stuck.... Because it doesn't pull out
They look the same though. Maybe I'll go steal one. Does anyone find the radio signal to very much SUCK? I can't listen to radio in the city. Or behind my house. Its super annoying. Only travelling E/W as well.
The deck should always be illuminated, mine always is... maybe it depends if its LCD or LED? There is an antenna lead, I believe its solid blue on the harness and...solid blue in the vehicle harness too. Blue on Blue.
Edit, here

Just found this. Orange is dimmer/illumination?

Re: Installing A Deck But Not Sure Of Correct Install
Power antenna doesn't exist factory installed on these cars. (There is no power antenna unless somebody installed an aftermarket one.)
All the illumination/dimmer feature does on an aftermarket deck is dims the backlighting when you turn on the parklights/headlights. The idea is that you turn your headlights on at night, and therefore the deck shouldn't be as bright. You'll notice in most every newish car, when you turn on the headlights/parklights, the climate control/radio lighting dims.

Re: Installing A Deck But Not Sure Of Correct Install
some decks have the option where u can turn the dimmer on or off..if its turned on then check ur guage cluster light adjuster thing, has to be almost all the way lit to turn on the dimmer effect for the deck. if its off..then check ur grounds. and ya my deck has the stage 3 tuner and my reception is no good neither. note: if u hook ur power wire and acc wire together u can use the deck without the key..jus dont forget to turn it off lol. the only time i noticed my deck to dim is when i press the breaks or the systems turned up haha. good luck with it

Are you sure you have power antenna (its not a stock option) ?93BlackMX3 wrote:when i had the stock tape deck installed the antenna never would move in or out. the new deck doesn't seem to make it work either. What could be wrong?
If you do - you have to hookup the power antenna wire (available in most newer decks) or the remote wire to the power antenna mechanism. This wire is not part of the stock harness as power antenna is not stock.
