Can you swap a 94 mx3 (DOHC) onto a 92 mx3 (SOHC)?

I have a 92 mx3 1.6L (sohc) with a bad tranny and would like to know if I could take a tranny from a 94 mx3 1.6L (DOHC) and put it on mine?
Ive tried searching to see if this would be a straight forward swap, but I don't know what all these techinical engine types or gearing types are... I dont know what series my engine is, and dont know how to find out.
All I found was something about 94 and up mx3's have an electronic speed cable? an mine isnt the same... correct me if im wrong im kinda confused...

also would like to know if i could take the head off the 94 dohc an slap it on my 92? without a really complicated process

yes u can i've done it before

swap out the electronic speed cable and insert the mechanical speed cable.. the axles from ur sohc will fit just fine into the trans too..

not much of a difference between both trans just a few minor differences

but it will bolt up to u sohc and yes u can retain ur clutch and flywheel.


note i am talking about manual transmission only so if ur AUTO well ur SOL cause i hate auto period,.
