weird transmission

Post by BigFlop »

K so I have changed the throw out barrings, slave cylinder, and the clutch master cylinder and my car still won't s--- after it has been at a high speed. I can drive back roads fine with it, but as soon as it gets on the interstate and I am on the exit ramp it will refuse to go into any gear, can't figure out whats causing this at all. Should I just buy a new tranny and be done with it? :?

When shifting becomes a problem are you still able to depress the clitch pedal? Did you change the pressure plate and clutch plate as well?

yes it has a fairly new clutch kit in it, and everything is in proper liquid levels, and yes the clutch peddle will still depress and work properly thats what i don't get, and i have absolutely no air in the lines at all.

Then I would say it has to be something with the differential. I say diff because it's road speed related. Works at low speed and not at high speed. The slave cylinder and clutch lever don't care how fast the car is going and the pressure plate spins at engine rpm so if that was the problem presumably it would happen at any road speed if the rpm was right.

People commonly complain about not being able to shift into several gears right before their diff explodes. This is likely a variation of that type of failure. That's just a guess, but I think in any event the tranny's going to have to come out to inspect the throw out bearing and clutch lever. Hopefully it'll be obvious once you have it apart. If not, I'd say it's internal.

sweet thanks, I think thats about the only thing that I haven't thought of. Now to find that way to get the money to fix it. I think I am going to sell my Saturn SC2(1995) for about 3200, which sucks cause it has a brand new engine in it and everything lol...but I love my Mazda. Thanks for all the help.
