AFPR problem....

Post by se7en »

Okay, does this sound right?

I have installed an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

first I removed the stock FPR, and then I installed the adapter.

all is well so far.

then I routed the fuel line from the adapter to the inlet on the AFPR, and routed the outlet on the AFPR to the FMU inlet, and from the oulet on the FMU it goes back to the tank.

at idle, is shows 80psi, and it won't change no matter how you turn the adjuster screw on the AFPR.

what is wrong here?

okay, I think I solved the problem... sorta...

I removed the fmu, and now I can adjust the fuel pressure.....

why would installing an fmu make the fuel pressure sit at 80psi??

I had it hooked up right, I double checked three times :)

maybe it is broken or something....

could someone clarify if fmu's go bad, they max out fuel pressure....???

Well the FMU is supposed to attempt a certain amount of a/f ratio per psi that is put into the motor. It is possible that you have a bad fmu, but you should still be able to adjust the idle psi to a manageable level even with a FMU hooked up. What kind of FPR/FMU setup are you running? OBX fmu or vortech?

I am guessing you are following something similar to this:

yes, that is exactly how I have it routed...

I found out my fmu is junk.

:(

it turns out, when you take fmu's 'ALL THE WAY' apart they don't work again...(says the vortech website)
(there is four screws inside that you CAN NOT remove!!!)
if you do, the fmu won't ever work again. trust me.

oh well...MSnS for me I guess.

cheers all.
