Pic request: rear seat removed, what to do with the 'space'.

Post by jamesmx3 »

I been searching for a picture of an mx3 with no rear seats, but with the 'space' covered with carpet. I know I've seen one on here some where. There was also one with a sort of built up section that made it look like a Proper two seater. If any one could link these or post the pics that would be great.

When I had my 93 I removed the rear seats. Fabed a custom sub box out of 1x1 pine. Once I had my design layed out I covered the structure with some old pool talbe felt I had form work and put fiberglass resin over it. did this 2 times I think. Sanded and Painted flat black, cut out for the speakers and mounted the amp. I had two 10 subs on a 30 degree angle pointed at the front seats and the amp placed in the center. I think it took me a week to do.. just doing a bit after work each day..

I dont think I have any pictures. But I will check my old pc when I get a chance..

That's a good idea, as the firberglass will keep the weight down! :D

Yeah, my audio guy has been dying to rip out that seat and spread the audio system from the trunk into that back area, his idea consisted of a fiberglass enclousure for the set up...I have been reluctant to go that route, though honestly, I NEVER use the back seat. Except as a trunk since I don't really have one anymore.
