door panels to fiberglass?

the carpet on the interior or the door panels went all crappy..so i was thinking about taking the carpet off and laying some fiberglass down. im getting my car painted so i was thinking about painting it the same color as the car..( gunmetal) also thought about doing the trim around the shifter up to the trim around thegauges....has anyone dome this before?..i have the materials at hand..so its just a matter finding the time..does anyone knows whats under the carpet on the door pannels?

Gregory Christian did something similar altho don't think he had to glass it but sanded and painted after pulling off the fabric.

I have a set in my closet, I'll probably end up selling them one day (bought them from KevinGettins's old car Barney) But in the mean time there mine!!! though the process to make them fg seems relatively easy just a little work

I think a Cabon Fibre insert would look better.
