For the rear fog light button, you can just use the horizontal fog light button from other Mazda's, mostly Escorts, Protege's and 323's, I saw a few at the wreckers this weekend actually. I got one myself a while ago. Maybe the logo on the button is different, but that's probably about it.
The one I want is the front fog light button...if you can get me one of those

are you talking about this switch??

oh BTW look at my sig... that's the OEM mx-3 fog switch

No actually. If you notice on JDM/EDM Mx-3's, they only have the outter lights as their brake lights. We use all 4 lights. What they can do is that the inner driver light is used as a rear fog light. Rear fog lights are something Ththat i've noticed to be very popular in European cars. I've seen these on our domestic Volvo's too, they have an extra single brighter tail light on the drivers side. I was driving in a heavy-mist rain on the highway, and was able to see this light on a Volvo farther up than the regular runing tail light on close cars, which inspired myself to do this mod for safetely alone in low visibility conditions, but I want to keep the 4 brake lights working as well. I have yet to attempt this, but I got the switch not too long ago.Mooneggs wrote:what?!front and rear foglights? what the heck do the rear ones do? reverse lights?

Nope, that's the front fog light from an Escort at a wrecking yard in VirginiaMooneggs wrote: I thought the one in your pic WAS the front fog light switch... that's what it is on UK mx-3's...OEM
For what I can tell, you can tell which is what by the logo. The front fog light will have the light beams on the logo facing left, like the pic i posted and the one in your sig. The rear fog, the light beams are on the right. Ironicly, for the horizontal switches which we would use, you can just flip it upside down to change that, lol. And that would be proper! Since the switch will be getting flipped (turned on) it will be on the right direction cause your changing it sides, but also that the JDM drivers are on the right hand side, but we're on the left, so the rocking (turning on) of the switch would actually turn out to be in the proper direction. Lol, you'd be putting a backwards switch on the wrong side of the car, which would correct itself.
I know, and if you get me one I'll be your best friendMooneggs wrote: are you talking about this switch??

Oh I have been looking at alot of UK mx-3's trying to find a set of glass headlights and I noticed that they only had 2 brake lights... I thought they were modified or something - I didn't know it was a featureNd4SpdSe wrote:No actually. If you notice on JDM/EDM Mx-3's, they only have the outter lights as their brake lights. On 94 models and up the center armrest has 2 removable slots under around the ebrake. I believe that switch goes in there. I know in the SE models that is where the heated switch goes.Kinda, doesn't look like the Mx-3 one, I dont think that one is the right dimentions to fit.
I thought I had an extra switch but I might have to check another box of "spares" LOL... I think I bought one off ebay and then when I bought my fog lights they came with another one... maybe I am confusing it with my JDM power mirror controls... *sigh* too many strange parts for the mx-3I know, and if you get me one I'll be your best friend

If I don't have it as I'm checking for the glass headlights I'll see if they can send me the switch too

Speaking of foglights I think I've finally decided to install mine for the complete JDM look - I just wonder if there is anything special involved... I am not very good at wiring and electronic stuff...

In the US, I dont think you got the heated seats. Ironicly, I saw a 92-93 RS at a wreckers here in Virginia, first one i've visited in the states so far, only had that one mx-3. One of the many things i've noticed is that is has, besides for autoseat belts (in an RS?) was that he center console didn't have the space holders for the heated seat switches...
I'm not sure if that switch actually does go there, they dont have the same dash's as us overseas. You may be right. but i've only ever seen them on the console so far.
I know, and if you get me one I'll be your best friend

Simple, I have the JDM fogs and wired them up. Cause I only had the fogs, I chopped off the connector and got a new weatherproof male/female for each and wired them up to a relay, and the relay to a regular rocker switch (for now), not hard really.Mooneggs wrote: Speaking of foglights I think I've finally decided to install mine for the complete JDM look - I just wonder if there is anything special involved... yeah those are the heated switches... I would like to get a set of heated leather seats one day...for the winters of courseNd4SpdSe wrote:These switches![]()

I believe you are right about this as far as no heated seats in the US since we didn't have the special edition (precidia)... somebody correct me if I'm wrong! But as far as the reason why that 92-93 console did not have space for the buttons is because it is a different console. In the US, I dont think you got the heated seats. Ironicly, I saw a 92-93 RS at a wreckers here in Virginia, first one i've visited in the states so far, only had that one mx-3. Keep in mind 92-93 also has a shallower tray inside the armrest because of the auto seatbelts roll up underneath it. Since the 94 and up does not have auto seatbelts the tray is much deeper and the designers added little knockouts (as in your pic) for buttons (or heated switches) to be inserted. (wish I had pics of my old 94 console)
well maybe I'll give this a shot this weekend if I don't feel lazy againSimple, I have the JDM fogs and wired them up. well I found some more pictures of where the rear foglight button is located in euro mx-3's...
right above the ashtray in that hole...

and I found a pic of the front foglight switch on a RHD mx-3 so for us it would be the rear foglight switch... I'm just trying to aquire one now...

oh and I pulled out my foglights last weekend and I DO have an extra front foglight switch... I haven't decided if I want to part with it yet... I might need it... but you are first in line...

Re: part # rear foglight button
Hi, sorry to resurrect a three year old thread but just wanted to point out that the switch on the right is for the front foglights in the UK (at least on a 1997 GS).
