Engine Swap

Post by shaker.18 »

I use to drive a mx3 but i rolled it badly ( (Amazed I survied) but I want to take the 1.8 out of that and put it in my 90 mx6, just curious if anyone has any thoughts/views/suggestions/knowledge on this.
Thanks - Shaker 8)

I am not familair with the first gen mx6, but my guess would be a huge difference in motor mounts, big differences in wiring harness. Not a direct swap by any means.

I have a 90 MX-6 too. Would never consider this swap but can see why yer asking cuz you have both the 1gen MX-6 AND the totaled MX-3 sitting right there in front of you. It could probably be done just because anything can be accomplished with a skilled welding torch and enough $$ and time. Check out the http://www.MX6.com forum, do a search there and you'll get a better idea of what's involved. Your MX-3 V6 1.8 would be the same as their discussions of swapping a 2gen MX-6/626 2.5L KLDE motor into a 1gen MX-6. Here's a thread from their site to get ya started. Try a search in the 1gen forum using keywords "V6 swap" and you'll get pages of hits. g/l and open yer wallet and tape measure a bit if you decide to pursue this idea. :2thumbsup:
