Got a Mx3

Post by mowambi »

So i picked up a 1992 MX3 GS V6 5-speed for 950$. Car definately needs some love. So far i replaced rear struts with KYB Gr's and rotors all the way around, pads all the way around. As well as it needed new ball joints and tie rod ends. Really wishing i did the ZX2 struts and H+R springs or eibach springs... i guess thats something for the summer. Needs some body love, and a few small electrical work. Ohh and a valve cover gasket. All and all i think this was a good deal. Ohh and it has 150,000 miles on it and ive put almost another grand on it in the month ive had it.

Def want a klze for this... maybe turbo...

True dat. Congrats and welcome.

When your idle starts jumpin around, check for vacuum leaks in the air intake hose post airbox, pre throttle body.

When your car inconsistantly dies and you find no spark, check the faq for the hei mod.

When you ask questions, wiser, more grumpy people will beg you to use the search key.

But you've got one of the best handling cars of its time, with major potential, and we all love it.

You'll find priceless information on here, it's an excellent resource. Again, welcome! :D

You have now been innitiated.

I am sad to find out that there is no write up on the valve cover gasket... having access to alldata and what not i wanted to see what other maintance and gaskets / seals i may need to replace. NO ONE even sells the intake manifold gasket, i found one overseas. And it was for the 2.5l probe. Can anyone help me here?

well thats because the valve cover gasket is pretty self explanatory.. ann you do is remove the valve cover.. get new one.. install and lube and thats it.. rear well remove IM and then valve cover and install and lube, replace manifold.. it really is that simple//

You should post your location, we don't know where you're from.

I work at Canadian Tire and I've had two sets of K8 intake manifold gaskets sourced within the last year; one set for myself, one set for another guy in town. Therefore they do exist, just harder to find. If you can't track it down I'll try to find a brandname and current part number when I get a chance.

I dont think the IM gasket, that one rarely fails and its made of metal.. something like that. Ive never replaced mine and ive swapped manifolds alot of times.
