Just a... question!

Alright, so I got some money again after spending a grand on my mx3 with a blown headgasket and bent frame and I'm looking for a new car.
I found some decent cars, cert and etest for under 3 g's but with high km's. so my question is... if I ended up getting a Ze, they go for what? 1 grand? and to get it installed by a mechanic.. 400 - ??

My next door neighbour (who is 18, and isn't all that bright)says he can install it but if anything goes wrong, broken, whatever, I'm screwed, all he can say is "oops". I'm guessing a mechanic would be the better choice as I know nothing about cars. So I got roughly 5 grand to spend here, if I buy an mx3 for around 2300 let's say, buy a new motor, install it, how much would you guys (the experts) say it would set me back in total?

Honestly if you do your research a motor swap is not that far out of reach of the average man. Read as much as possible on this site, and do the work yourself and save about a grand that a mechanic will charge. Also if you do all the work yourself you will know exactly what you have and know it was done right. A ze can be had for 800-1000 bucks. Figure another 500-1000 in misc parts such as gaskets, timing kit, new clutch ect. depending on the shape of the motor. If you keep the motor stock i dont see why you can not get a ze in an mx3 for 2 grand at the most.

Ah thanks, I'll do my homework and see what I come up with. To be honest, I have never done any work at all to cars but drive them. Is there any risk of screwing up the install process or breaking anything? Or is it just like a puzzle and put the peices where they go, simple, badda bing?
I could get my neighbour and his buddy to help me... but I'm just worried something might go wrong and cost me even more money!
