Post by Tunes67 »

Found this ad on Ebay.. after checking out this RS.. I noticed something completely out of place on this car. Who else notices it? And what is it? ;)

Hmm

- Has Honeycomb rims, where I believe were only for the 92-93's. Hard to say if they are 14's or 15's. If they are 14's, than maybe their stock, if their 15's, doubt it
- The Wrap around wing. Not only was it not available in the US (and it's more likely a US car because of the lack of "Precidia" sticker") but it actually has a wing instead of the hatch garnish.
- All the wonderful damage. I dont believe they came stock with those accents. I think the damage would void out his *many* comments of "well maintained". I'm sure someone would put $500 worth of work in such a horrendous car. I'm sure the velour interior is "nice", if you ignore the numerous tears

LOL I didnt pay much attention to the damage.. I am not really interested in buying a car on the other side of the country from me ;) But the canadian rear wing sure caught my eye.. this would be a great car to pick up cheap for parts especially with that wing coming with it :)

If this was a true SE would it not have leather seats ( heated to boot ) and the emblem/sticker to clarify "SE"? Not even dual exhaust, just dual tips on one muffler. Body in rough shape but good parts car.

Ok.. You guys need to check out the main page and do some reading on the SE model. 93 only. In the US it was raspberry metallic in color ONLY. In canada it came in other colors. Black, Red, Raspberry Metallic, Laguna Blue Metallic and White. Also.. all SE models were GS model cars.. ALL were V6 cars.. this thread is even entitled to indicate the car in question is a RS.

SE? Is that what you were thinking about tunes with this thread?

It's definitely an RS for many reasons:
- Lack of V6 Badgting
- Lack of front Lip
- Non-SE Rims (if you were thinking it wasn an SE)
- Posting indicated a 1.6L 4cyl
- Tachs reline is 6500rpms
- I dont believe i've ever seen a GS with manual windows

 Are any of you reading this thread before posting? I dont mean to be harsh here.. but I have clearly stated that the car is a RS.. I answered your original post Nd4SpdSe in that I stated that the canadian rear spoiler was what caught my attention.. dunno where Bling Bling got SE from.. and then 92blackmx3 starts spounting information about US spec SE models so I point out that 93 ONLY is the year of the SE and that they should read up on the main page about them and then all of a sudden.. I somehow think that the car I pointed out as a RS to begin with is a 93 SE when the ad shows it clearly as a 94 RS? I suppose you guys will think I believe it to be a 5spd and pink with polka dots too eh?

Oh and btw.. the flower power rims were available in 1992-1993 GS 15" Alloy Rim (Standard) and in 1994-1996 RS 14" Alloy Rim (Option)

At least according to the main page.

You could get an RS with 14" honeycomb wheels. The interior is not "velour", it is common twilled yarn... The wing could be bought in the US as an option, but there were VERY few that purchased the expensive pretty. As for well maintained I'll keep my reservation on that. All the pics show a worn and dirty car with a nasty dent, no engine shots to show that what he/she meant was that the engine was well maintained. Still maybe a decent deal for 300-400 tops IMO.

Hmm, didn't check. I know my friend has 14's on his '93 RS (also has the GS wing too), but I completely forgot to check the mx-3.com page for the rims availability. I dont think i've noticed honeycombes stock on a 94+ , but than again, that's not something i look for ir stands out.

Yeah, my 95 RS came with the 14" honeycombs as an option instead of 14" steelies. Not really noticeable cuz so many GS models have the same wheel in 15" size. Replaced em w/Konig Heliums and now the Honeycombs are just taking up storage space...

Wow, just noticed the ebay auction ended with a winning $610 USD bid. That seems kinda high IMO for a well worn RS with 175,000 miles and a damaged body plus ripped up upholstery. Would like to get hands on a wrap-around spoiler tho cuz it looks best on the MX-3 IMO :2thumbsup:
