First 1/8th mile on new built bottom end

Post by JWMotorsports »

First time to the track with the new motor broke in good. I couldn't get the car to come out of the hole worth a crap...this time instead of frying tires it now bogs horribly with the heavy flywheel. I even tried leaving the line at 3000rpm and it STILL bogged! With the light weight flywheel on the low copression motor it used to FRY the tires. I wish I had the money for the Clutchnet 12lb flywheel and pressure plate...aswsome compromise between the 9lb or the 22lb ones I've used.

26psi and bogging bad out the hole...also blowing a hose every other run

Reaction 4.6115
60ft 2.649
330ft 6.726
1/8th trap 88.81 MPH
1/8th ET 9.57739

I was pissed....the car doesn't bog on the street with the 3-disc Car Chemistry silencer in the rear muffler but it chokes of a got bit of top end power. The car was a total animal on the back half! The heat from waiting to go through the pits was putting a toal on the car as well. My battery now has a buldge in it's side and the intake manifold was heating to over 140*F. Its time for me to build my heat shields and impliment my thermal efficiency game plan. Also going to install worm gear clamps on the rest of the hoses untill I can afford the AN fittings to utilze the SS-braided hose I have

Do they not have 1/4 mile drags over there? I know you can't just take your 1/8th mile and times it by 2 to get your 1/4 mile...if so that means you run like an 18? Did you post your reaction time correctly?

Ummmmm woops......

.46115

I'm not that slow

If I put the other flywheel back in or try launching at the track at a higher RPM and slip the clutch through half of first gear I'd pull 1.8ish 60ft times. My car at the track last night hooked for the first half of the track and spun tires through the last half....completely backwards of most cars except for top fuelers. You'll see them hook and fly out the hole then their tires go up in smoke. I only got 4 runs in last night...2 of which blew a hose off (super glue broke first, then the zip tie...on a hose barb fitting at that!). My car is putting down the power to pull high 10's or low 11's in the 1/4 mile. When it hits boost in third gear it winds out just as fast as pushing the clutch in and mashing the gas to free rev the motor. My 3rd gear due to my large front tires goes from about 70mph to 100mph. 4th gear pulls even harder.

Even when the hose blew off at boost peak shortly into second gear, I still drifted a:

Reaction .45229
60ft 2.509
330ft 6.638
1/8th Trap 60.62 MPH
1.8th ET 10.22384

It bogged bad still that time even launching at 3000rpm!

The closest 1/4 mile to me is Virgina Motorsports Park, about 2.5 hours away from me. The next closest is MIR in Maryland which is maybe even a little further than that. We have 2 1/8th mile tracks close to me. Natural Bridge Drag Strip about 1.5 hours away and Eastside Speedway wich is about 30 minutes from me.
