Ran into a Block on swap

Post by bigsy »

OK, on passenger side there aRE a few problems in my KLZE swap at the moment, I have a vacuum hose i cant connect, the one that connects on the side of the intake manifold and goes to tha booster looking thing. I also have a temperature sensor which has no plug into the coolant area nor can i fit the two knock sensor plugs together as totally different and one has one wire and one has two wires. If any ideas please post, im stumped and almost done :s

Thanks Ben

All common problems.

You need to lengthen the knock sensor wire and swap the temperature sensor from your K8. As for the vacuum line im not sure.

Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben. I realize that you're a fairly new member but almost all of your dilemmas are avoidable. You know that there are FAQ's that cover almost every stinkin' thing possible for a swap. Also, there's the home page http://www.mx-3.com/index.cfm that has links within it for swaps too. http://www.mx-3.com/swap/
Now on top of that you should have also done a search using a search word "swap" (go figure). Had you done most of that you wouldn't be asking those questions, which incidentally have been answered numerous times. Case in point, your coolant sensor problem. I just posted a reply to another member who also just completed a swap in BC OoloopyoO or some nic like that. He also FORGOT to do the K8 to ZE migration of the engine cooland thermosensor/ engine coolanr filler neck assembly. The K8 coolant filler assembly is a straight bolt on to the ZE engine. I believe the MS8 (KL31 cam'd MX6 ZE) ZE does not have the second coolant thermosensor in it's coolant filler neck assembly whereas the Eunos 800 (KL 01 cam'd Millennia ZE). Those that do track down the KL31 cam'd Ze must also migrate their coolant filler neck from their old K8. 2 options open to you. Put on K8 filler neck assembly or drill and tap the bare boss. Specifics on that procedure has been covered and posted within the last 6 months or so. So there's those 2 options.
The vaccum hose you are referring to may be the cruise control vaccum line. No worries here. If you're using the Millennia IM than there's a larger than necessary vaccum nipple on the rearward pasenger side of the IM. Myself, I just placed a "Y" fitting onto the vaccum line that feeds the FPR Solenoid and the cruise worked just fine. The existing vaccum line for the cruise control wasn't long enough so a quick trip to canadian Tire for the propper inside diameter vaccum line was in order. In any case a trip to crappy tire may be necessary anyway since you'll need a step down method if you plan to use the nipple at the passenger rearside of the IM like I mentioned first off.
Sorry bigsy but I can't answer your knock sensor problem right off the bat. BTW, you will get much better and more refined results by stating what year MX you have, what mods have been done etc ... etc ... etc. What you now have to do is give a bit of history about your MX and specifics about it too. For example, what year, is it an RS or GS, etc.. etc.
bigsy, since I'm sure you'll have more questiuons once these issues are sorted like tuning, idle, ECU's, CAI, HEI's etc, I STRONGLY urge you to complete your profile to include all of the above items I mentioned previously, or else you're going to get the same questions asked over and over and over and over again. After a while if it appears the member is only looking to be spoon fed than a great deal of support will also dissappear. So post back the needed info and take care of your profile info and we'll get to round 2 of your dilemma. cheers,
John

PS: When I plugged in the search word swap for the V6 Performance forum I got 42 pages worth of threads. So Ben, there's tons there for you. It will also prove to your advantage to have a host site for your pics so that you can post them here. A picture tells a thousand words and can solve a lot of problems much much sooner. But then again, once you start sifting through the info I provided, you'll come to that realization anyway.

as for the knock sesnor...its in teh middle of the block and the wire gtoes to the drivers side of the motor...just remove the clip holding it to the coolant line and run it to the passenger side and put the clip back on
