Damage on Underside of car (side, under door)

Ok well, winter is screwing with my car. I slid into a snowbank sideways a little while ago, not very much noticable damage. But, if you look under the car, the metal right under the door is squished to about 1 cm, and it tapers down to were the frame is, and its about a foot long crunch (parralele to the car), 5 inches wide.

Heres a pic of what i'm talking about (this is the area that is squished, the two short lines indicate how long it is...its on the passangerside tho)

Now, i was wondering; is this even fixable? It's hard to see from the oustide, only if you look from underneath. I don't THINK theres any fram damage, but the metal were the door sits over rubs againts the door when i shut it. How much will it cost? Is it worth it?

God...maybe i should just sell it and buy another mx-3?

same problem on both sides, cept my doors arent rubbing. did u consider a sideskirt to just cover the area.. thats what im going to try and attempt

Mmm...yeah that crossed my mind. maybe i'll do it...but then i would have to get front and rear bumper too, to even things out. Then paint. mm i dunno. My door shuts, its just kinda.clunks.

Any other ideas? I'm fairely desperate.

tk this is why package policy is amazing

, switch to it where your paying 100$ or 50$/ month and claim it, its fixed your hapopy cost 100$ for your deductable, i did it on my door handle, and all my front bumper stuff. if i was still at 700$ i would have spent so much mor extra.

And this is called insurance fraud and its why insurance rates are so high for everyone.

yeah. I mean its not a huge deal, but its THERE and thats whats buggin me. Its like having a dead body in your trunk. But has anybody ever fixed this before or gotten this fixed? How much did it cost? How was it fixed?

thats not insurance froud if you have damage to your car why the hell cant you get it fixed? id say it maybe was insurance fraud if you bought the car like that. but i dont see how its any different then wrecking your bumper while it can still drive function fine. and im already paying more for my insurance for package policy. so, lets say you hit a pot holes and it wrecked some of the paint and undercarage about what tyler is talking about, if they quoted the damage to be more then your deductable you wouldnt pay the deductable and get it fixed?

B/c you cannot buy the insurance and then make a claim that happened before you bought the "package" policy. If you have a wreck, then buy comrehensive and collision insurance, then tell them that you wrecked the car and make a claim (in that order) it is insurance fraud.

The damage wouldn't be hard to pull out and flatten the door seal back. Take it and have an estimate done at a few shops. Estimates are free and only take a few minutes.

You will need the pinch weld (flat part that sticks down just under the door) it is what you use to jack the car up if you have a flat. Only a body shop will be able to fix it to where you cannot tell it happened.
Using side skirts to cover the damage could hide rust from the cracked paint and you won't know untill the rust eats all the way through to the door seal.

Knowingly making a claim on damage that was already there before purchasing a insurance policy is fraud. Not only will you have to pay it back.. but usually there is jail time involved if caught and the claim was big enough to warrant prosecution.

hey guys thanks for the imput. About the rust, good to know. And the insurance fraud, well thats defantly not going to happen, and it didn't even cross my mind, although it woudl be nice to have a package policy.

I'll be taking it in eventually to get fixed. The pinch under the door (the part were you put the jack) isn't damaged what so ever. I hit a snow bank, so it just crunks the soft stuff. Thanks for the answeres, you guys are great. Although its interesting how this can turn into a post about insurance fraud lol....ok well i'm abit happier now that my car isn't unreversably recked.

well my mistake i guess more of a joke since im pretty sure he wouldnt try it anyways as the way i wrote it wasnt really as i meant it anyways. as for the 700$ deductable to fix a bit under my handle they quoted me over 500 so id still suggest taking it in and getting it quoted. if they quote it as under 700 then theres no point but if it goes to be alot over that then its your decision to get it fixed or not.
