CONSOLE INFO PLEASE

Post by markbrad »

My car (1994 RS) has a two? level console, but is missing the smooth lid. Is the stock lid the same or is this piece unique? Does anyone have one? Thanks.

If you're talking about the oem add-on accessory cup holder, then the original oem lid should be able to attach right to it, I believe. Should be an easy (and cheap) find at a junkyard. It's not exactly the same on the inside but should fit nonetheless ... I think?

Hmm, for some reason I'm thinking it won't...but I never tried. I'll hafta check that out. If the weather's nice this weekend, I'm pulling the Mx-t out to install the door panel, but I'm fairly positive that I still have my old lid somewhere. I'll give her a try.

As you can see, I have the double-stack console. I got it off of eBay early last year.

If my memory serves correct they are very different tops. My parts car had the double layered one, while my driving car has the standard thingy (haha.. I don't know what to call it). I was going to put the double top on my standard one since it is cracked, but it wasn't the same (I think it was shorter). You might be able to make it work since you are going the other direction, but it will probly take some modding.

am I making any sense :?

on another note, I hated that double thingy. The lock went bad, so anytime I opened the top and forgot to hold the lid, the whole thing would topple backwards.
