Hi, I want to remove the stock air-dam because i've replaced the stock air box with a CAI. What i plan on doing is taking the hood-rod holder and removing it from the stock airdam.. drilling out the center hole just a bit more to make it fit the 10 mil. bolt where the stock air-dam currently gets bolted on. the issue im having is when i put the piece on there.. and try to lower the hood, the air bag sensor.. or at least what i think is the air bag sensor cable gets in the way.. its quiet stiff and i think it has some thick plastic around it.. which conformed to the stock air-dam.. is there anyway I can move this thing? has anyone else tried this?
Here's a picture of the cable im having problems with:
I've looke at that too an J-Dog's MX-3 (although he just wants to leave it, I looked for my own information). It looks like you might run the risk of the airbag not working if you move the sensor. Mazda designed the car to have it in a certain place and I'd leave it there if you can.
ZE -strait neck,headers,2.5 exhaust,pheno spacers,lower cross member,GC coils,MS struts,Brembo slotted rotors,filled MS mounts,SS brake/clutch lines, CAI,to rear bat reloc,Hella headlamps,Hella DE fogs 180WHP
Oh, i completely understand that.. i don't want to move the sensor. .i just want to move the cables out of the way... the issue is that cable is solid plastic.... anyway around it?
I removed the plastic cover off mine about 3 years ago without any problems so far and the actual airbag sensor wire looks similar to cable TV wire ...it is more flexible ,I relocated it so that it runs behind my fuse box & coolant reservoir and going under rather than over my radiator support
