O-Ring seal help.

HOW DO I GET THE O RING SEAL TO STAY IN PLACE ON THE WATER PUMP WHILE INSTALLING THE WATER PUMP???????????

your supposed to put rtv gasket sealant on both sides of the water pump gasket before installing it, when u do this, the sealant will make the gasket stick to the pump while u put it on the engine

Yep. Buy the sealant that specifically says 'Water Pump Sealant'.

Hmmmmm, never used sealant and was a bit of a trick to keep the o-ring to stay in place but I did. Never had a leak without RTV, I let the gasket make the seal.

Yeah, I've never heard of RTV on both sides either. I use just a tiny bit to get the gasket to stick, but not enough to make any kind of seal other than the water pump gasket provides itself.

yah the haynes dosent specifcally say both sides, but the instructions that came with my new pump did :shrug: cant hurt
