BAd News
I got bad news fellas I banged out my mx on the highway and the front end is almost unfixable. I found another mx3 but its the 4 banger. I need to know what needs to be done to take all that i put in the gs ( KLZE LSD tranny) and put it in the 4 banger. I am planning on having both so that i can swapp stuff over. If any body has any knowledege let me know.
Its not about how fast it goes, but about how well you drive it when it goes fast.

i have never tried this so some one please jump in. ok i read the swap page of mx-3.com and it said "1.6L 4-CYL. DOHC/SOHC TO 1.8L/2.5L V6 ENGINE SWAP LINKS (Not Recommended)". so i take it that it will be fun. and you probably should write a manual while you are doing this. now personally i would sell the klze and get the bpt swap.
ok now that that is out of the way. since you did the swap i assume you know the engine bay fairly well. i would recomend looking at the engine mounts. see if you can change over the mounts without much difficulty. may take some weilding. then you will have to change over the wiring harness, ecu, engine, tranny, axles, possibly rad, powersteering resivior (if different than the 4 banger), etc. essentially it would be a complete overhaul. make sure the engine bay is the same measurments, it should make it alot easier with both cars infront of you. like i said i don't know much ( more like nothing) about swapping the klze into a 4 banger. but it should be alot of fun.
is there anyway if you can switch the the front ends? i'm just looking for a easy way out for you. have fun and good luck. and someone please jump in, i'm just suggesting stuff i would do.

you're basically gonna have to swap the whole front end. Your gonna need the mounts, tranny, ecu, and wiring harness at least. Probably be a good idea to take your rad, too, assuming its not crushed. Theres probably alot more that I haven't mentioned, but I've been looking into doing the same swap as of late, and it's a pretty daunting task.

Don't do it, the RS is missing alot of suspension pieces that a GS comes with. such as larger stabalizers, stiffer springs, rear tie bar, disc brakes, and a few other things. GSs are not that hard to find, just wait a few weeks and one will pop up. There are a ton for sale on Ebay right now... Good luck and sorry to hear about your car.

I don't know if this will help you much but this is a thread to the buy/sell/trade forum. this is a guy that did a klze swap into an escort. so if anyone has experience doing a v6 swap into a four. he would. he previously had the bpt setup in his escort.

I definately agree with the other guys about putting a 6 into a 6. There is enough bs to worry about doing a swap. So the easier you make it on yourself, the more hair you'll have on your head at the end of the project. I damn near ripped all of mine out. I'm sure if you check out autoshopper and auto trader you should come across one. There is also the asbury park press and home news tribune in Jersey that tend to have pretty good classified sections. Those are the most commonly read papers in central nj area. Philly isn't too far from my area and I've seen some gs models floating around in the past. If you're willing to drive up to an hour and a half to find a good donor, it might be worth it in the long run. Good luck.
